One of my 'lockable' wheel covers was stolen last week. Can't seem to
find one in a junkyard. This is the 20 spoke wheel cover with the
Ford Oval in the center cap. It uses the supposedly theft proof bolt
to secure it. Anybody have one for sale or know where I can getr one
used? Can't afford new.

Thanks,

Bill A

You mean the theft-proof bolt that every car owner is given a key
to? The key that is in the glove box or the spare tire tool kit? The
one that is easily available in tool kits sold to tire shops to get
them open when the owner loses their key? That theft-proof bolt?

Not very secure in the first place - only meant to stop honest
people. Obviously there is another person in your town with a 99
Crown Vic with those wheels, with loose morals, and he didn't want to
bother tracking one down...

Two choices: Call around junkyards in the region till you get
lucky. Or contact a specialty used hubcap shop - they exist.

And when you get done, check into replacing the bolts with a
different commercially available theft resistant head, something that
is NOT in common circulation. Tamper Torx, Tamper Hex, Tri-Drive,
Clutch Head, etc. Or the locking lug-nut companies make higher
security keyed center cap bolts.
